I love this book, it's so cute and very unique. I love how cheesy and stereotypical the salesman is. He will do anything to try and sell you his book. This book is great for teaching kids to be smart consumers and not to give in to advertising and it does all in a very playful, fun way.

I teach first grade and do an author study on Melanie Watt. My students love her Scaredy Squirrel books and so do I. I thought this book was clever but my students thought "Al" was mean. They especially did not like that he said the dictionary was boring. Adults will understand the humor more than children.

Amazing and entertaining. This is a surprisingly useful book to teach youngsters about marketing and advertisement.

It was ok , got a few laughs but for the most part it went over the second graders heads. Maybe I'll try with an older group.

My class laughed and groaned at some of the sales techniques used in this book. They could all relate when we go to the package deal (duct tape not included) and were able to recognize "persuasion" used to lure them in everyday. Now if I could only get them to use this persuasion in their writing.....

Wonderful story to introduce voice to the audience. It gives students a perspective on sales and persuasive writing.

This book is okay. It is not my favorite, but it has some cute points. I like using books in the classroom. Reading a book and follow up with a student learning activity. I though I could use this more than I do with the students.

I chuckled when I first started reading. Then, I laughed out loud. Then, I read it to a group of second graders. I'm telling you, this guy could sell ice to a freezer and the freezer would think that it was getting a deal! Short read that gets across, in a funny way, principles of selling techniques and sales-speak. Too bad Billy Mays is dead. I can almost him barking out the text of this book! Pair this with Agee's book Nothing. Nothing
